Modernism vs Postmodernism

 Postmodern

When looking specifically at postmodern spread design it is evident that the spreads themselves often overpower the images upon the page. As I am developing a showcase of designers work it is essential that my own design style is not projected, but rather a piece of editorial is developed in which highlights the selected imagery.

It is evident that some of the more modernist approaches above would not be suitable for the publication, although aspects may be drawn from these (such as negative space), in order to develop editorial spreads in which appear clean, legible, yet contain some form of postmodern trends.

Conclusion

Although it is evident that some form of postmodernism should be involved within the editorial of the spreads, a purely postmodern design would distract from that of the design pieces and thus some form of modernist function must be involved within the design. Initial drawings will be developed in order to promote different ways in which the spreads may be arranged.
