Getting to grips with the market and user interfaces.

As the chosen demographic is relatively older than myself, and of a different gender, I had to think about the type of interfaces in which they experience on a day to day basis.

When researching upon the intended demographic, it became evident that design for this market largely differs from a younger audience. The below recomendations were outlined.

Make sure your font size is large enough for easy reading. Laptops and most monitors are relatively small, making reading difficult for many 50 year olds, whose eyesight may have deterierated. Minimum of 16 point.

Keep the navigation as simple as possible.

Age appropriate photos and graphics. If you are trying to get an older audience to buy, then make them feel comfortable and welcome on your site.

Create landing pages specifically targeted to the  audience. If your online advertising is geared to attract an older audience, then it makes sense to create a landing page or alternate home page specifically geared to that audience.

Although the above information is relevant, it has to be questionable whether a director is going to have little understanding of how to use an interface. Creative directors will have to complete surveys, read emails etc, and thus their knowledge upon user interfaces will be strong. Type Size must be considered though due to visual impairment.
