Developing the logo further

In conjunction to the feedback given further responses were developed in which focus upon the typographic aspects of the logo. The word female is broken down into both Fe and Male, this is in order to promote females as being independent, and separate beings as males. Far back within history it is evident that females have often not been seen as individuals but rather an asset of a man. Within the christian bible, the idea that Eve was produced from one of Adam's ribs suggests that males have always had some form of ownership of females.

The following quote outlines one of the key reasonings behind the development of the word women, the term for female humans. 'Woman used to be wifman, a combination of wif, meaning "woman" (whence wife), and man in the meaning "human being".'(English.stackexchange.com) From unpicking this quote it is evident that the word women originally meant female human being, whereas the term man means purely human being. As a result of this it is evident that women have always been labeled as different to men. The connotation to the word wife again leaves females in a position whereby they are an asset, not their own being. The way in which women is derived from man, is similar to the ways in which the word female was developed from male, although the latin was altered within this case in order to appear more suiting to the english language.

To promote the aspect of FE within the deisgn, would allow the latin meaning of female to be highlighted. This in turn removing the sexist connotations in which suggest that a women is the object of a male.

When completing this action through the illustrations it became evident that the reasonings for doing this may not transcend the message but rather appear as if 'angry feminists' have developed the publication in order to discriminate against males. As a result of this it was decided that the cross (x) approach was far too aggressive and therefore must not be used. Other ideas were explored with in order to convey multiple messages. Italics were used in some cases in order to separate the two words, as well as exploring the bold setting. were also used in order to gracefully remove the word male, being a far less aggressive approach it was decided that this may be explored with further.
