Target audience


When outlining who the target audience of the magazine will be, it is essential to consider the current readership of magazines mentioned within my critical report. Closer, Heat and Elle are just a few mentioned in which devise their publications towards 18-25 year olds. This is evident through the socialities in which they place upon their covers, for example, Kim Kardashian (who is highly noted in the critical report).

As the feminist publication is to combat the larger magazines, highlighting a space for women interested in an array of subject matters, not just their appearance. It is essential that the same demographic is targeted. This, in turn, allows the consumer to decide which publication they would like to engage with, as currently within supermarkets etc, the only magazines available is that of the 'glossy' format. To allow women a feminist option, it may, therefore, be a way in which to promote feminism to a large demographic. As if the young women of today have feminist values, then so shall their children. This would also allow women who are 'fed up' of feeling inadequate to gain a better knowledge about how magazines can abuse trust, and manipulate the consumer.


As a result, the target audience will be 18-25 year old, females.
