Postmodern design as a platform for women

As female designers have been neglected and overlooked throughout history, it is essential to note how postmodernism allowed women to enter the design industry, rebelling against the traditional modernist trends. My level 5 essay it states

'Due to the feminist movement these inequalities were outlined and women began to become aware of their rights. In relation to this, female designers provoked the rise of the feminist design movement, allowing a form of feminine design in which had not previously been highlighted to be expressed to that of a mainstream audience, with iconic female designers leading the way. The reasons behind this change of attitudes has only been partially uncovered, and this is where my interest lies. An insight into fundamental events and activist design will be explored, examining in depth how key moments have altered the design industry for women.'

As a result of postmodernism and its benefiting effects to women within the creative industries, I believe that this may be a strong design factor to include. Promoting change visually.
