Magazine name

The publication itself is called 'Witch'. The name being selected as a rhetoric of mimicry. By appropriating a derogatory term in which has been used against women for centuries, the word has been selected in order to subvert misogynistic culture by depriving it of its verbal weapons. Similar to the ways in which the Guerrilla Girls, owned the word 'girl'.

The word witch itself not only applies to the millions of women who were murdered for having a political opinion throughout past centuries, but also to the female leaders of our generation who have been scrutinised and compared to a mystical women of evil powers.

A further analysis of the name will be highlighted within the publication.
