Front cover -research

To counteract the 'glossy images' represented within traditional women's magazines. Research was undergone into a variety of covers in which do not have a focus on the female body.

Both illustration and type have been used in the above cover to promote a lively design, in which gains the interest of the consumer. The typography used presents that of an illustrative style, complimenting the image.

Compared to the Time's traditional covers, the above design stands out as it promotes a different style than to what is usually represented. The three-tone approach also stands out to traditional magazines in which often contain an array of colours.

With a photograph as the basis, illustrations have been implemented in order to create a bright, innovative design. This 'postmodern' style promotes colour and reduces attention away from the traditional imagery. This may be used in a form of mimicry within my own design.

Bold, the above illustration decorates the magazines cover promoting an impactful design. The limited colour palette contrasts that of the traditional magazine cover. Boarders have been used so that the text can stand out.

The above decorative style uses typography in an illustrative format. The vast colours used allow each word to stand out, promoting an interesting design.
