Relating my essay to my practical work-mindmap

In relation to studio brief one (the essay), a mind map was conducted in which outlines multiple directions in which the physical body of work may take. The idea of a poster campaign was discussed although I believe this to be already extensively explored within the realms of feminism and graphic design. The idea of a social media campaign was also outlined, this being used in order to engage young female creatives within the industry. A feminist magazine was also highlighted as a strong concept, with a zine also being a strong idea.

When discussing the concepts with Simon he suggested that some form of 'catalogue' could be developed in which highlights females within the workplace and could be given to design studios in order to promote young female creatives, and their design. Focusing upon the trends with the essay the attributes in which make female design stand out could be highlighted, such as postmodern trends, and the usage of other materials.

How many the magazine highlight female creatives to design studios?

In conjunction to this question another mindmap was formulated in which outlines specific routes in which the catalogue may take. One key idea being that a broad range of design should be expressed from app design to print, in order to suggest the capabilities of women. This should also be in conjunction with the usage of both minimalist and post modern design. The idea of involving other art principals was discussed, although Simon suggested that it must relate to the essay trends thus it would be stronger if only design was explored. Another idea of using students specifically from LCA was outlined, although personally I do not believe that this would work in relation to the essay. This must be outlined further.

From this it has been decided that a catalogue will be developed, in which outlines that of other designers works.
