Oppositional posters

In order to gather a greater understanding surrounding oppositional political posters, I conducted some research into other candidates.

Bernie

When looking at Bernie's campaign it is obvious to suggest that the design styled used is highly vectorized, a design decision in which has been consciously made to target that of a younger demographic. As Bernie is 74 years old it may be difficult for a younger demographic to relate to him as an individual, and thus these posters focus upon his ethics rather than appearance. The second C.A.D. variation also depicts Bernie in a younger state. This may be a realm in which I explored when developing Hillarys poster.

Trump

As Donald is highly recognised as a joke candidate to the presidential election it is fair to suggest that his marketing team have compared him to George Wallace, a strong leader for that of the Democratic party. As Wallace also ran for 4 presidential elections this may suggest that Donald isn't planning on going anywhere soon.

As the American dream is a popular ideology it is fair to suggest that Donald is attempting to sell this idea to his country as a marketing technique. Similar to Bernie this design also plays upon vectored imagery in order to somewhat symbolise the candidate. The image is also built up of the nation's patriotic colours and thus embedded Donald as a US citizen, a factor in which is controversial within his campaign.

Bobby jindal

Similar to that of the Donald campaign, Bobby has attempted to use a past political poster to inform his current design. Not only does this create a sense of stability, but it also allows the consumer to identify the campaign to that of the previous and thus suggests that their sentiments are similar.

John Walker

Using patriotic colours and the white house as a basis this minimal photographic approach depicts John as if he is already president, a factor in which is conceptually strong although I feel that this design lacks aesthetic.
